Molly’s a smart girl; she’s been working with Sherlock for years. But she’s so in love with him she can’t help herself. Even if the compliment is so shallow that if you tried to dive in it you’d break your neck, she loves him. She’ll take whatever she can get. So even as she knows he’s just going to ignore her the second he gets what he wants that little giddy smile spreads over her face because he finally said something nice to her. Even if he didn’t mean it. And that is the tragedy of Molly Hooper.
